Are you a strategic leader with a commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability? We’re seeking a Director of Legal, Compliance & Assurance / Council Monitoring Officer to join our senior leadership team and play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of governance within the Council.
​
You will play a critical role in providing expert legal guidance and support to senior leadership, councillors and teams across the council, driving compliance with laws, policies and procedures, protecting the council from legal and financial risks. Serving as the council’s monitoring officer, you will champion good governance, ethical conduct and transparency in decision making.
THE VACANCY
Director of Legal, Compliance & Assurance/Council Monitoring Officer
Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Up to £115,000 per annum plus benefits
Location: Dudley
As a key member of our senior leadership team and the Council's Monitoring Officer, you will be pivotal in ensuring our operations uphold the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and accountability.

You will lead key functions – legal, elections, internal audit, data protection, information governance and take responsibility for codes of conduct and modernising our democratic processes to strengthen governance and management of risk.
